Trek Slash Carbon Fibre frame repair

The Trek Slash is a downhill bike designed to take a real beating. Somehow a local teenager managed to snap the rear triangle. Turns out this kid is pushing the boundaries pretty hard and winning races. Sometimes the fastest line is straight through the rutted section.

We managed to repair it in time for a race at the Wairau Gorge and Cable Bay and he won the Under 15 category! Only several seconds behind the open mens category – which is pretty impressive! The bike is still in one piece, saving his parents a fortune!

I made a solid carbon fibre insert and wrapped several layers around the rear triangle to make it stronger than before. Red Durepox paint and clear gloss made the repair invisible and the results speak for themselves.
